Digitalbook Publish is the creator portal behind Digitalbook.io. It is where authors, narrators, voice artists and small publishers record, upload and sell their own audiobooks.

You record or upload your chapters, tidy them up, add a cover, description, genres and languages, trim a short preview clip, and set your own price in your own currency. Submitting a book sends it to a moderator; once it is approved, each chapter is packaged for streaming and the book is listed in the catalogue, sorted into its genres and languages, surfaced in search, and published to the site’s feeds.

After that, the dashboard is where you live: listeners, downloads, sales and earnings per book and per month, what a buyer paid and what you earned from it, and royalties paid straight to your own bank account once a sales month has cleared its 30-day hold.

Our goal is to make publishing an audiobook something you can finish in an afternoon, rather than something that needs a contract, a production budget and a wait measured in months.

So publishing here is free — no upfront fee, no subscription and no charge per title — and you keep 70% of every sale, at the same rate on your first book as on your hundredth.

Your rights stay yours. The licence you grant us is non-exclusive, you keep the copyright in your book and your recording, you are free to sell the same recording anywhere else, and you can take it down whenever you choose.

And your work is listed alongside a catalogue people are already browsing, in twelve languages, on the web and in our mobile apps — rather than launching to an empty shelf.

The portal is a fully-responsive hybrid-rendered user interface running at the edge, talking to a collection of independently deployable and autonomous cloud-based application services. The studio work happens in your browser: recording, noise suppression and transcoding all run locally in WebAssembly, so your audio is already the right shape before it is uploaded.

Uploaded chapters are converted into an encrypted adaptive stream. Here are just some of the technologies and frameworks used to support the platform.

Publishing here is governed by the Audiobook Distribution Agreement between you and Digitalbook Ltd, which you are shown in full — and asked to accept — when you submit a book for review. It is written in English, governed by the law of England and Wales, and the version you accepted is recorded against that book.

The short version: the licence you grant is worldwide and non-exclusive, you keep the copyright in your book and your recording, we take payment on your behalf and pay you 70% of what a buyer actually pays, and either side can end the agreement on 30 days’ notice. Submitting a book asks us to review it — we decide what appears in the store, and we tell you why if we decline or remove something.

Encrypted streaming is a deterrent, not a guarantee: no client-side protection is unbreakable, and we do not promise your recording cannot be captured by a determined listener. Where this page and the agreement disagree, the agreement is the one that binds.
